System Wide Information Management (SWIM) Registry / Information Service Overview

1 General

This Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) introduces the implementation of Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) services that are compliant with the System Wide Information Management (SWIM) service specifications, in accordance with the European Union Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/116 on the establishment of Common Project One (CP1).

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/116 (CP1) is a binding regulation that supports the modernisation and harmonisation of Air Traffic Management (ATM) in Europe under the Single European Sky (SES) framework.

Under CP1, one of the six mandated functionalities is AF5 (ATM Functionality 5): System Wide Information Management (SWIM). AF5 refers to an ATM functionality that consists of standards and infrastructure enabling the development, implementation and evolution of services for information exchange between operational stakeholders via interoperable services.

2 Description and Availability of AIS SWIM Services

Information about published SWIM services, access guidance, service endpoints (points of access) is available at: eur-registry.swim.aero/services (filtering by Service Provider Name: EANS).

All interested end users are kindly requested to provide feedback by email to swim@eans.ee.

SWIM Registry is available at: eur-registry.swim.aero.

Published information service overviews:

  1. Aeronautical Information Feature Request Service

The EANS Aeronautical Information Feature Request Service enables the service consumer to request current and future aeronautical feature data, such as aerodromes, airspaces, navigation aids, obstacles and ATS routes through a standardised Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) based request/response interface. The exact information needed by the service consumer can be specified in the information request based on feature name, location and/or time parameters.

The information returned is in the form of an AIXM (Aeronautical Information Exchange Model) 5.1.1 message ensuring compliance with aeronautical information exchange standards.

  2. Aeronautical Aerodrome Map Request Service

The Aeronautical Aerodrome Map Request Service provides aerodrome-related geospatial data and charts on request through a SWIM-compliant interface. The service generates aeronautical aerodrome maps from the available current or next AIRAC-cycle aerodrome mapping data. The service provides aeronautical aerodrome maps in a graphical format. In the aerodrome map request, the service consumer can specify the aerodrome map layers and charts to be included and the geographical area of interest. Currently, the service provides data only for Tallinn Airport (EETN).

The provided aeronautical aerodrome map is used in visualisation contexts as a backdrop map. Service users such as ANSP, airport operators, airline operators, and airspace users can use various service capabilities (e.g. Digital NOTAM overlay in electronic pre-flight information bulletin (ePIB) applications).

All data is sourced from EANS AIM database and encoded using AIXM 5.1.1, ensuring compliance with aeronautical information exchange standards.

  3. Digital NOTAM Request and Subscription Service

The Digital NOTAM Request and Subscription Service allows the service consumer to get dynamic aeronautical information in accordance with the Digital NOTAM specification. The aeronautical information conforms to the event scenarios that are supported by Digital NOTAM. The service consumer may subscribe to the service, specifying the event scenarios of interest. It is also possible to send a direct request to the service to get the aeronautical information.

The information returned is in the form of an AIXM 5.1.1 message ensuring compliance with aeronautical information exchange standards.
